Calibration Competence
What is UKAS Accreditation?
The United Kingdom Accreditation Service is the sole national accreditation body recognised by government to assess, against internationally agreed standards, organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services.
Accreditation by UKAS demonstrates the competence, impartiality and performance capability of these evaluators.
Accreditation by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) is the key to ensuring that consumers, suppliers, purchasers and specifiers can have confidence in the quality of goods and in the provision of services throughout the supply chain.
Accreditation by UKAS means that evaluators i.e. testing and calibration laboratories, certification and inspection bodies have been assessed against internationally recognised standards to demonstrate their competence, impartiality and performance capability.
It is the ability to distinguish between a proven, competent evaluator that ensures that the selection of a laboratory, certification or inspection body is an informed choice and not a gamble. UKAS accreditation means the evaluator can show to its customer that it has been successful at meeting the requirements of international accreditation standards.
This means that the customer reduces the risk of selecting an incompetent evaluator and paying for, or more seriously, acting upon invalid results.
Whay use ISO17025 acredited calibration facilities?
Accredited calibrations to 17025 are your guarantee of confidence in thecalibration results &uncertainties of measurement, through Internationally recognised technical auditing of a laboratory’s competence.
The International Standard covering the “General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories (ISO/IEC: 17025:2005) is virtually now the only Internationally Recognised Calibration Quality System.
Traceable Calibrations from Non ISO17025 Accredited Calibration Sources are now generally technically questioned.
“According to the CEN/CENLEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of the following countries are bound to implement this European Standard: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic,Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia. Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom.”
National & International Technical Trade Barriers for your company’s products and services become transparent when all your calibrations are to the ISO17025 standard.
Non United Kingdom, European Union Customer & MRA Signatories , please confirm with oyur National Standards Organization as above, that suitable calibrations are not available in your country.
